Risks in a Changing World

The discussion will centre around the changing banking, technological and economic environments and the opportunities and risks. The event will be hosted by the broadcaster and journalist Richard Curran. Joining Richard will be Colin Hunt, Deirdre Hannigan and guest panellists Brian Hayes, Elaine Coughlan and Brendan Traynor.

At the event the panellists will discuss the changing banking landscape, the rapidly changing technological world, the impact of Covid-19 on businesses in terms of the use of technology, ways of working and also the economy and business sentiment in general.”

Our Panellists

Richard Curran

Richard will be the professional moderator for this event.  Richard is an accomplished broadcaster with RTE and has been deputy editor of the Sunday Business Post, assistant editor of the Sunday Tribune and business editor of the Irish Independent in his 27 year career.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across a wide variety of business, economic and social issues.

Colin Hunt

Colin Hunt has been AIB’s Chief Executive Officer since March 2019.  Colin will share his views on the changing banking landscape and the economic outlook.  He will discuss what this means for AIB customers and staff.  He will also discuss the importance of risk culture and where AIB is on its culture journey.

Deirdre Hannigan

Deirdre has been AIB’s Chief Risk Officer since April 2017. Deirdre will provide her views on the importance of risk management, what it means for staff across the three lines of defence and strategically to the wider business. Deirdre will also provide insights into current risks and future outlooks.

Brian Hayes

Brian has been the CEO of the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland since 2019 and also serves on the board of the European Banking Federation.  His was previously a member of both the European and Irish Parliament.  Brian will be giving his views on the changing banking landscape, the growth in fintechs and what all of this means for consumers.

Elaine Coughlan

Elaine is a co-founder of Atlantic Bridge. Elaine has 30 years of experience in the technology industry both as a founder, executive and investor scaling Irish and European technology companies.  Elaine is also a board member of Enterprise Ireland and has been named one of Europe’s Top 50 Inspiring Women in Technology.  Elaine will be giving us her insights into the rapidly changing technological world, how businesses are dealing with this and the opportunities / risks that this presents.

Brendan Traynor

Brendan is a co-founder of Renatus Capital Partners and was previously an M&A  Director in BDO Corporate Finance.  He is a Board member of Boojum, Rennicks, CRS Refrigeration, Simtech Aviation and AQF Medical.  Brendan will be discussing how businesses like Boojum and others have managed over the last 2 years, how technology has impacted and benefitted businesses and also Brexit and the wider economy.
