Welcome to the 6th Culture Night that the Department of Finance is hosting for South Block, and our second virtual production. Join us as we share the history, heritage and culture of the iconic South Block of the Government Buildings campus, home to both the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform. Staff from across both Departments will share their own experiences of working in such a historic location as well as stories from nearly a Century of economic public policy that mirrors the foundation and growth of the State. This year we also have an update from Dr Ciaran Casey of UCD on the book detailing the history of the Department of Finance from the period 1959 to 1999 and an overview of the OPW art collection that hangs on the walls of South Block. That is in addition to our traditional visit to the archives of the Department and a showcase of some of the historical artefacts that form part of the cultural heritage of South Block.
